This Privacy Policy explains how NovelShift handles information when you use the app and this documentation site.
Data collection
NovelShift is designed for local reading. Books, reading progress, highlights, settings, and downloaded translations are stored on your device unless a feature clearly tells you otherwise. With your consent, text, titles, and necessary translation context are sent to NovelShift’s cloud AI service for processing. Our third-party processing providers include Cloudflare, OpenRouter, and OpenAI. Enabled automatic translation may process subsequent chapters. You do not need a personal API key or a separate AI provider account. We do not sell personal information or use private reading content for advertising.
The service processes device and network information, subscription verification information, and usage diagnostics to provide translation, verify membership, and troubleshoot errors; application diagnostic logs exclude book text, translations, prompts, and API keys. AI providers process submitted content under their own data policies. We may also receive information you provide in a support request.
Cookies and local storage
The NovelShift app does not rely on web cookies to read your books. This website may use an essential preference cookie or local storage to remember document-navigation choices. It is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. If non-essential cookies are added, we will ask for consent where required and update this policy first.
Data security and retention
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information involved. No system is completely secure, so keep your device protected and do not share account or provider credentials. Data remains only as long as needed for the stated purpose, required by law, or retained locally by you. Deleting the app or a book removes device-local information subject to device backup settings.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information we control. You may withdraw consent for optional processing at any time. To make a request, contact zlhibari@gmail.com. We may need to verify your request and will respond as required by law.

Free and Pro plans
Free includes 50,000 source characters per local calendar month. Monthly Pro includes 2,000,000 per subscription period. Yearly Pro includes 2,000,000 per monthly usage period anchored to the annual subscription start date; a missing day falls on the last day of the month. Punctuation and spaces count. Only successfully saved translations count; cached or reused saved translations are not counted again. Free allowance resets each calendar month; Pro resets each subscription-based monthly usage period. Unused allowance does not roll over. After your Pro subscription expires, new translations use the free plan and its remaining allowance. Saved translations remain readable.
Included cloud AI service
NovelShift provides cloud translation without a personal API key or separate AI provider payment. Network availability, service capacity and your allowance may affect requests. AI output can contain errors; review translations before relying on them.
Subscriptions and existing rights
Prices, billing periods and any eligible trial are shown in the app and App Store purchase sheet before confirmation. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled through your Apple account. Manage or cancel subscriptions in Apple settings; deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Use Restore Purchases in the app to restore eligible purchases. Existing purchases and statutory consumer rights remain subject to their applicable terms. Contact support about earlier purchases.
Terms of Use
Service and applicable agreements
NovelShift provides tools for reading user-imported books and AI-assisted translation. It does not grant rights to a book catalog or to third-party content. The service provider is the developer/seller identified on the NovelShift App Store listing and your purchase record; Apple processes App Store purchases but does not become the provider of NovelShift’s features. These service terms supplement the software license applicable to your App Store download, including Apple’s standard EULA where no custom EULA applies. Mandatory consumer protections take precedence over conflicting wording.
Your content and permitted use
Import, process and translate only content that you may lawfully use for that purpose. You retain your existing rights in your content; using NovelShift does not transfer ownership of your books to us or grant rights belonging to publishers or authors. Do not use the app to bypass access controls, infringe rights, distribute unlawful content, steal credentials, interfere with service security or fraudulently obtain paid access. Restrictions do not limit uses protected by applicable law.
Third-party AI and privacy
With your consent, the content needed for translation is sent to NovelShift’s cloud AI service for processing. Third-party service providers process this content as described in the Privacy Policy. Review the Privacy Policy before sending sensitive material. No personal API key is required. Review generated translations and summaries before relying on or sharing them.
Support, restrictions and consumer rights
Contact zlhibari@gmail.com for service questions, billing assistance or complaints. Include the app version and a description; send only the minimum non-sensitive information needed. Where necessary to address fraud, unlawful use or a concrete security risk, access to affected services may be restricted proportionately, with an explanation and an opportunity to contact support where lawful and practicable. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, or your rights to applicable warranties, refunds and other remedies. Your statutory avenues of complaint and dispute resolution remain available.
